SHIPS OF SAND
An eclectic bunch of misfits stranded on a fantastical island struggle to survive.A playful, savage adventure for anyone who has ever felt at odds with, or simply confused by, the world around them.
Lyrebird Theatre Co. is preparing to set sail to the Greek island of Andros, where the company will cohabitate and create their new show, SHIPS OF SAND. In an exploration of human survival instincts, societal organization, and group dynamics, the characters
in SHIPS OF SAND are suddenly stripped of the routines and comforts of civilization. What magic lurks on a deserted island? How will they survive?
An international devising company consisting of performers from Greece, USA, England, India, Argentina, and Denmark, Lyrebird employs movement and improvisation to create poetic imagery and stories. Trained in a style descended from Jacques Lecoq, the company assembled at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) under the direction of Thomas Prattki. Lyrebird strives for simplicity in theatre that is grounded in a curiosity for life.
SHIPS OF SAND marks the company’s debut onto the world’s stage. Don’t miss it!
